Dan and Judge Examination Results (.pdf)

Dear Karatekas,

Sensei Danny just returned from the Pan Am Championships in Guyana over the week end. I will let him tell you about the competition but I wanted to congratulate him a great job in representing Canada. Here is an excerpt from a message he sent to me:

"Tony, nothing significant to report at the tournament. It was a fun time despite the intense heat. We had a parade in the capital city of Georgetown on Friday morning after working until noon on Thursday, travelled 12 hours and sleeping for 5 hours. Met the mayor in a garden reception after the parade, then we went sightseeing and then met the president of the country at 3 pm at his house. The judges test was moved earlier to the Thursday during the judges seminar, Maureen, Alice and Peter Warren passed. I had to do a special test in front of 2000 people and 200 competitors the first thing Saturday morning during team kumite eliminations for female and male, with no other ring in operation until the test was done. I passed. Canada did really well, Matt Moody is much improved. I made a presentation to Frank at the opening ceremonies in front of the dignitaries for a personal donation to the building of the Guyana Karate College of 2000.00, which is 400,000.00 Guyanese money!"

The special test was his judge’s test and now Sensei Danny is a “A Class” judge. I believe that he and Sensei Maureen are the first Canadians in ISKF history to get this qualification through a test instead of having it awarded. A significant achievement!"

He also put on quite a show at the banquet by playing the Caribbean drums on stage and then putting on a Salsa dance demo with a couple of the Quebec female team members.

Congrats to Dan for being a true ambassador of ISKF Canada!

Sensei Tony
